Winter Sports in Turkiye: What to Expect and Where to Go

Skating rink in Silivrikapi – one of Türkiye’s biggest ice rinks, measuring around 9000 square meters and including two Olympic courses. There is also a figure skating school and other ice activities take place.

2. Bursa, Uludağ

Uludağ, Palandöken, and Erciyes are the most popular skiing destinations in Türkiye. Uludağ is a prominent ski resort that can be reached by day trip from Istanbul. Uludağ Ski Resort is Türkiye’s oldest and most popular alpine hamlet, stretching 36 kilometers from Bursa. The ski region is located between 1800 and 2500 meters in elevation, and the optimum time to visit the resort is from December to April. The overall length of the snow-covered pathways is roughly 20 kilometers, with the longest route being about 2 kilometers.

3. Kayseri, Erciyes

The ski resort is an hour’s drive from Kayseri. Erciyes Resort is one of Turkey’s oldest winter tourist destinations. The ski resort on Mount Erciyes is 25 kilometers from Kayseri. A great place for snowboarding. Snowboarding is rapidly gaining popularity in Türkiye. Snowboarding in Türkiye is a terrific opportunity to see the lovely surroundings while riding snowboards.

4. Erzurum, Palandöken

The Palandöken Ski Resort is situated in Erzurum. The famous freestyle ski resort is within a few hours’ drive from the country’s north-eastern coast. The Palandöken resort is one of Türkiye’s major ski resorts, with excellent accommodation and skiing conditions. The ski area is located at an elevation of 3185 meters and is snow-covered for 4-5 months of the year.

5. Kaçkar Mountains, Black Sea Coast

Some people believe that snowboarding originated in the Kaçkar Mountains. Long before the start of the twentieth century, villagers slid down the slope on boards of wood.

The Kaskar Mountains in northern Türkiye, near the Black Sea, are an excellent alternative for heli-skiers since the summit rises over 3,500 meters above sea level and receives consistent snowfall in winter. Instructors and pilots accompany extreme skiers.
