London – The Gemini Boat Race

The Boat Race was initially competed in 1829 by crews from Oxford and Cambridge Universities and is today one of the world’s oldest and most famous amateur athletic events, providing student-athletes with an unrivalled educational experience.
The world-famous sporting rivalry between the United Kingdom’s two premier universities lasted 185 years, and The Boat Race has become synonymous with British tradition and quality. The Boat Race has established itself as the pinnacle of amateur sport, with student-athletes combining intellectual rigour with superior physical skill competing. There is no better time.
The Boat Race is held in London on the famed Championship Course, which spans 4.25 miles of the tidal Thames between Putney and Mortlake.
The Boat Race is typically attended by about 250,000 spectators on the river’s banks, and millions more watch it on television.
