Where to Drink Turkish Coffee in Istanbul?

Born and raised Istanbulite. Keeping an eye on the opportunity to explore this ancient city even more. Trying to do the best for nature.

There is a saying in Türkiye: “A bitter coffee forms a bond lasting 40 years” This can be from the bitterness of the coffee or from its deliciousness. And if it’s delicious coffee you want, you need to know it’s been made properly.

How to Correctly Make The Coffee?

Making Turkish coffee is quite simple. Ideally, you’ll want a Turkish coffee pot but if you don’t have one you can cook it in another pot make sure it’s tall and narrow because good coffee froths when it is cooked. If you’re using coffee beans you’ll need to grind them first. Hand grinders for this can be bought in many Turkish shops. Grind the coffee by placing the beans in the grinder and turning the handle on top of it (you can learn how to use it from the person who sells it to you). If you don’t want to buy coffee beans, go to the Grand Bazaar and look for the sign saying Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi. There you’ll find the finest ground coffee.
